My Selection from Moving Image

Ewa Partum is an important figure of Eastern Europe conceptualism, best known for her performative works (she often performed naked as a way of defending the Feminist cause). This series of short films is probably not among her most polemic, but it is certainly among the best, as it shows how it is possible to create poetically and conceptually strong works with an extremely reduced vocabulary.

I don’t think there are main differences between collecting a traditional media, as painting or sculpture, and video or films. But for sure, for anyone interested in the moving image-based art, Moving Image is an event that should not be missed.

There are many very promising artists working with video, but I don’t think the media they work with is the key issue. Ewa Partum’s films are a good example of that: what really matters lies elsewhere.
