Abend Gallery Presents
Elsa Muñoz Solo Exhibition
September 14th – November 5th, 2017
DENVER, CO., This fall Abend Gallery is proud to present a solo exhibition of work by Elsa Muñoz. Her first here in Denver, this exhibition puts the artists’ incredible talent on full view. Muñoz’ landscapes and seascapes are dreamy and fully encompass the strikingly beautiful and powerfully dangerous aspects of nature. This show opens on Thursday, September 14th at the Sugarcube building in downtown Denver and runs through November 5th.
The works in this exhibition come from different series in the artists’ body of work. The seascapes omit a sense of calm and anxiousness simultaneously. In “Silversea” the stormy clouds hover over the gorgeous blues of the ocean water, blending into one another on the horizon. “Nightshore” exemplifies Muñoz’ ability to capture and recreate the undulating waves in a near-photographic way. The artist has a near uncanny talent for realism, she blends sharp and precise details with dreamier elements to create works that truly stick with their viewers.
The landscapes on view exemplify Muñoz talents just as powerfully. The places she chooses to depict are beautifully rendered, every detail works together to create the completed work. In “Controlled Burn 3” the viewer sees a lush green forest with a perfect circle of orange flame in the center. The smoke rises from the center and creates a gorgeous rising haze.
All of the works on view in this exhibition work harmoniously, exemplifying Muñoz’ extraordinary talent and skill. Her work breathes new life into the field of realism, instilling a sense of wonder in her viewers. Muñoz is truly an artist to watch.
