"In This Moment"

Anne C. Smith
Night holds a special fascination for Anne Smith. She combines the intense black of charcoal with delicate lines of graphite in her drawings inspired by memory and landscape. Her art is beautifully deliberate; a glimpse into another world. With elegant lines, Anne creates an awareness of spatial relationships. Her work suggests a vastness with the quietude and stillness of night. Hints of form or space inspire questions and observations about the visual language of minimalism and abstraction.

Anne is a visual artist in Washington DC. Her art practice spans the disciplines of drawing, sculpture and printmaking. Her subject matter includes her childhood home, the side of the road and other spaces imagined or observed. Anne received her BA in studio art at Williams College and her MFA from George Mason University. She is currently a teaching artist at the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC and works in the studio of master printmaker Lou Stovall. Anne has exhibited at Hillyer Art Space, Old Dominion University, James Madison University, Carroll Square Gallery, The Workhouse Art Center and throughout the DC area. Anne exhibited with Adah Rose Gallery last summer in "Carte Blanche".

Christina Tenaglia

Christina Tenaglia’s sculptures are in a continual state of doing and undoing, arriving at a perfect moment of repose. Using mostly wood and paint, each sculpture is carefully constructed and inspires a playful exploration of its parts. They are fragments, passing thoughts, rigorous, but also full of wonder.

Christina’s works on paper are simple gestures and expansive thoughts, suggestive of architecture and landscape. Using pen and ink and bits of collage, she creates compositions that are both abstract and recognizable, full of whimsical and curious details.

Christina Tenaglia is a visual artist from Hudson New York. Her practice includes drawing, painting and sculpture. Christina received her BA from Vassar College and her MFA from Yale University School of Art. She has been the recipient of numerous residencies including a MacDowell Colony Fellow, an I-Park Residency, and the Catwalk Residency. She currently teaches at Vassar College. Selected exhibitions include Goliath Visual Space, Rawspace in New York City, Yale University, Vassar College, Trestle Gallery in Brooklyn, 500 X Gallery, Weathervane and Tiger Strikes Asteroid. Christina exhibited with Adah Rose Gallery last summer in "Carte Blanche"
