The drawings of Wesley Berg distill individual elements of line, gesture and color to create moments of visual curiosity. His work asks questions of space, flirting with flat and three-dimensional perspective. Wesley creates his drawings with a few graphite pencils and light washes of watercolor on paper. They are playful, enticing, humorous and boldly simplified - the work is intended to appear as though it simply “happened”.
Wesley Berg received an MFA in painting and drawing from the University of Florida and a BFA from Miami University of Ohio. After living and working in NYC, Wesley attended a series of national and international artist residencies, including the Vermont Studio Center, Santa Fe Art Institute, the Baer Art Center in Iceland, the Nelimarkka Museo in Finland, ARNA in Sweden, Earthskin Creative Residency in New Zealand, and JOYA: Arte + Ecologie in Spain. Recent solo exhibitions include Marshall University, the Osage Arts Center, and Brazosport College, and the Cole Art Center. Wesley is currently an Assistant Professor of Art at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, TX. This is his first solo show with Adah Rose Gallery.
