On April 28, 2019 a prestigious auction of artworks will be held in the Mánes Exhibition Hall in Prague. The auction will offer a wide range of high-quality works, with the iconic pieces by Jan Zrzavy from the collection of Emil Gilels, one of the most important pianists of the 20th century. The collection consists of two excellent oil paintings and five works on paper. The Auction Hall is also in charge of selling the quality collection of writer Marta Davouze. The art works come from her Manoir De Langourian in Normandy, France. This will be for sure an unique and unrepeatable auction opportunity.
The auction will also offer a large oil on canvas by Josef Šíma entitled Landscape with Stems from 1930. This gallery picture comes from the collection of the Slovak poet Theo H. Florin. From the famous Dr. Ivo Rotter’s family collection will be auctioned the precious cubist oil painting by Antonín Procházka, Head III from 1916. The collection of Dr. Ivo Rotter is deposited at the Belvedere National Gallery in Vienna.
Another "chef d'oeuvre" of the April auction is the famous oil painting by Bohumír Matal called Brick Factory I. from 1945. Jindřich Štyrský is represented in the April auction by a painting entitled July (1930). This magnificent work was in the collection of Toyen. Vojtěch Hynais's Portrait of a Young Lady will also be offered at the auction. The famous master painted this supreme oil in 1881 in Paris.
In the auction will be included also a unique work by Albín Brunovský, the rare oil painting on panel called The Second Variation of Super Big Garden Theater. Among other “highlights” of the auction, will be a great oil painting by Antonín Hudeček entitled On the Road (around 1906) or the rare Cubist Still Life (1914) by Otakar Nejedlý. Both works are from the collection of Marta Davouze.
French modern art in the April auction is represented by the top oil painting of Bernard Buffet from 1977 called Table de Jeu. Collectors will also be able to buy the famous collage on paper called Jan Palach-Suicide by Fire from 1970 by British artist Joe Tilson.
Other great works by Václav Radimský, Petr Brandl, Milan Kunc, Olbram Zoubek, French sculptor Arman, Julius Mařák, Georges Kars, Joža Uprka, E.A. Longen, Othon Coubin, Jiří Hilmar, Milan Dobeš, Milan Kunec, E. O. Friesz, Joan Miró, Fernando Leger, Adriena Šimotová, Krištof Kintera and many others will be offered in the April auction.
