On October 28, 2018 a prestigious auction of artworks will be held in the Mánes Exhibition Hall in Prague.
The auction will offer a wide range of high-quality works, with the iconic pieces by Toyen entitled "Falaise de Basalte" (1929, oil on canvas), Jindřich Štyrský's oil called "Lanterns" (1925, oil on canvas) and Antonín Procházka's cubist work entitled "Still Life with Oil Lamp" (1921, oil on canvas). These three excellent oil-paintings come from the significant collection of Dr. Ivo Rotter, which was exhibited as a long-term loan in the National Gallery Belvedere in Vienna and at many other exhibitions abroad.
The auction will offer also important works from several leading pre-war collections, such as "Boy in the Window" (1915-1931, oil on canvas) by Josef Čapek, who represented Czechoslovak Art at the World Exhibition in Paris in 1937, "Crucifixion" (1911-1912, oil on canvas) by Jindřich Prucha from the restitution of the National Gallery in Prague, the famous "Les Danseuses" (around 1905, gouache on paper) by František Kupka, or a painting by Jan Zrzavý "From the Krátká Village" (oil tempery, plywood) from 1939. All of these works have been exhibited and published many times.
An extraordinary photograph (pigment print) by František Drtikol called "Composition" from 1929 with a starting price of CZK 400,000 will be offered at this auction too. Among the most important works will be undoubtedly the paintings by S. H. Pinkas, Antonín Chittussi, Miloš Jiránek (restitution of the National Gallery in Prague), Joža Uprka, Oldřich Blažíček, Otakar Kubín, Georges Kars, E.A. Longen, Karel Černý, Jan Bauch, Kamil Lhoták and others.
