In translating the painting into a rug, Seligson hand-selected the eight colors from hundreds of color poms to ensure precise color matching. The cut-pile rug was hand-tufted in Thailand with pure silk and New Zealand wool. The pencil carving is also cut by hand. Behind the rug are a set of doors that are also translated from one of Seligson's paintings. The artist worked with a housepainter, using a maquette which you can see on the left on the bottom shelf. The artist calls this body of work 'intimate geometry.' Decisive reflects her sense that she had found a powerful composition, despite its modest size. Seligson chose this piece to translate into the largest of the Art Rugs because she was wanted to create a textile piece with a three-dimensional element. The painting is framed in white painted wood by Keith Knight of Knightworks.

Decisive, the largest of the Art Rugs, was hand made in Thailand from all cut pile. Seligson was interested in how the three dimensionality of the painting, would translate into a rug. he only 100% silk rug in the series, this color blocked rug, translated from the oil painting The Art of Dropping Everything, was hand-knotted in Nepal with 300 knot pure silk in six colors. The large painting on the right, Pace Pace,Pace Pace is from the artist's favorite duet from my favorite opera, the Marriage of Figaro. Pace, peace. The duke and duchess reconcile after the duke sees his own presumptuous blunder. This painting, Seligson says, felt like that.
