AKI had a great show successfully for Taiwanese artists in El Segundo Museum of Art in LA in 2013 . The director of Getty Museum－Timothy Potts had left a very positive comment of FAN-Yang Tsung’s paintings when it’s shown in El Segundo Museum of Art exhibition in LA in 2014；KUO Chih-Hung, his works have been collected and described as “Focus” and “Uninhibited” by Uli Sigg in 2015 Art London. This year, AKI has been recommended by our partner Galerie EIGEN+ART to join WERKSCHAU 2018 in Spinnerei, Leipzig where is exactly the cradle of New Leipzig School - Neo Rauch and many great Leipzig’s artists. AKI will join this grand fair with AKI’s unique point of view in this April.
Spinnerei was a cotton factory in the 19th century, located in Leipzig, after reunification of Germany, it has been remodeled into an artist community, there are artist’s studios, the workshops and the many different workrooms and exhibition rooms of hundreds of artists and galleries. In Spinnerei, there are many great Lepizip’s artists focus on painting and with masterly ability and technique, they exchange their thought and create new ideas here, and collectors come from all over the world to look for the potential artists.
In WERKSCHAU 2018, AKI Gallery is presenting Chih-Hung KUO and Yang-Tsung FAN. KUO is famous on The Mountain Series, just likes a hiker freely traveling in the forested mountains. He utilizes the material he familiars with and combines his own imagination with past experiences to create the unique mountain sceneries of his own; FAN will launch the latest works of his popular series- “Swimming Pool” in 2018. Just likes walking through the swimming pool which seething with naked bodies in the hot sun. Fan’s obscure perspective strengthened his painting’s uniqueness and there are hidden message resides in the paintings that hint people’s lust for stalking as well as the desire for attention. A duo solo exhibition - “Penetration” will be presented to the audiences in Spinnerei, to find the truth hidden behind their works from superficial images.
Chih-Hung KUO’s mountains have turned representational into more abstract, he started to try irregular Polyptychs in recent years. However, the only thing does not be changed is the subject - “The Mountains” even if his works varies continuously. KUO said, “The process of painting is like an island hopping journey, where you jump from one island to another to connect them as you explore the world of the unknown. There is no beginning and no end.“ It explained why he is keeping change his artistic styles but the mysterious mountains. Actually, KUO does not sketch in the mountain but browse on the internet and collect the images of mountains to help him composing the paintings. That is why his mountains are different from the real mountains. He is always try to share his world view with painting mountains; however, mountain is a form; to paint mountains is the way to communicate with of Chih-Hung KUO.
Yang-Tsung FAN is good at playing with the elements of hard-edge spaces, captures the delicate changing of vapor and reflection in water; through the warm and bright color he applies, he makes the skin of figures full of human temperature. FAN creates a fantasy world for the viewers and release people’s innermost desire in his art.
Founded in 2002, AKI Gallery was branded focusing on nurturing potential young artists, in the past 16 years, AKI Gallery combs Taiwanese contemporary art with world system, eventually make a success strike into European and American museums, also make the way into central area of globe-essential collection system. In the same time, we launched an annual project to promote German art, a Munich or New Leipzig School exhibition will be held once in a year in AKI Gallery to open a window of western art in Taiwan, further, make the way into central area of globe-essential collection system.
