This exhibition of new paintings by local artist Irene Lipton will feature larger scale works. Since her first showing at the gallery in 1990, Lipton has continued on a steady path of painting. Her biomorphic, organic forms have developed into a language of their own, while still connected to her roots in the American Abstract painting continuum. In his review of Lipton’s work, Andre van der Wende stated that “In this recent work, there’s a new dynamic ease as Irene Lipton unfurls her dancing, rhythmic contours with the dervish of a haywire slinky.”
Irene Lipton was a 2012 recipient of the Lillian Orlowsky and William Freed Foundation Grant. She was a Fellow at the Fine Arts Work Center in 1988 - 1990.
She lives and works in Truro.
