The seas and the oceans and all their inhabitants been a recurring element in Woodman’s work, including his previous exhibitions, The Old Man and the Sea, and Moby Dick and The Sea. The presence of mankind is absent in this current exhibition. It is purely and simply, Fish. An avid surfer and swimmer, he imbues a lyrical aspect to life on the ocean. Woodman’s sculptures are developed from drawings and then interpreted in hand cut aluminum, joined by rivets and painted. The sculptural aspects vie with the painted qualities in producing this elegant work. Woodman has been working and exhibiting for many decades, and his work is in many private and public collections. He lives and works in Wellfleet.
