Over the past few years, time spent travelling, notably his trip to Peru, has shaped the philosophy and work of
Sixe Paredes. In particular, the power of symbolic archetypes (identical in many ancient cultures), myths, legends
and other mysteries lost in the mists of time. The study of certain ancient techniques such as ceramics and
weaving, has broadened his artistic expression and humanistic consciousness.
With this exhibition, the artist Sixe Paredes shares his empathy with Nature, the core of our own identity. It is
his view that there is a very strong relationship between our inner feelings and our environment, one we are not
always aware of. The world around us affects us, defines our limits, our understanding and the pace in which we
live our lives while giving it meaning.
The artist imagines a language from another dimension, that of Nature. Like shamans before him, he translates
it into a contemporary language with the hope of connecting us with the reality of these tutelary forces, which run
through us and unite us.
The work of Sixe Paredes has an incantatory function. Here the message of the painted metaphors is an invitation
to overcome one’s own obstacles, to free oneself from the everyday in order to rise spiritually, to become
part of a greater entity. In other words, he invites us to move from an individual state to a collective consciousness.
The summit symbolises this place bathed in light, where our perspective on the world changes.
The shaman, on the other hand, seeks our meditative introspection to gain knowledge.
Sixe Paredes is inspired by the connection of energies between Mother Nature and her child, the human being.
The consciousness of being part of a whole means being aware of a flow of invisible energies. We are water,
rock, we are the wind ... the different elements of nature are in us. This artistic metaphysics aims to consolidate
the relationship between our subconscious and this other reality around us hidden by repetitive habitual routines.
In representing the mystical places he discovered on his way, Sixe Paredes links his imagination to a tangible
reality to reinforce his works’ power of suggestion. Painting or sculpture is a cosmic arc that unites us to Nature.
The sacred landscapes he evokes have existed throughout history, and have prompted his desire to prolong a
cultural heritage dominated by folklore and primitive arts.
The artist conjures up mythological archetypes between heaven and earth, day and night, water and fire, animals
and humans, the masculine and the feminine, life and death ...
The simple forms, the pure colours and the proto-symbolism define an abstract and unique figurative lexicon
distinctive to the artist that he calls «Futurismo Ancestral», ancestral futurism.
By uniting the past with the future, the title sums up his ecological thinking in favour of a society in harmony with
the environment. The change envisioned will be «bottom up», the day when, like the primitive tribes, the individual
will regain consciousness of his collective role as a fully-fledged member of humanity.
