Italian female photographer LUCIA GIACANI will have her first solo exhibition in China at Alter gallery from March 23, 2019, to April 21, 2019. The exhibition collects more than 20 pieces of LUCIA’s five series.
Giacani, who began experimenting with photography out of enthusiasm at an early age, starts to shoot regularly for Vogue Accessory after a series of shoots for Vanity Fair, Vogue Gioiello and Vogue Pelle. She is in a sense like a theatre artist, preferring to pick well-proportioned and energetic female models, and dress them up like dolls. On the stage in front of her camera, the most chilling and the most tender features of women are unfolded and magnified. In the exhibition, we will restore the original scenes of “Killing Time II”, which enables viewers to enter the photographer’s fantastic world to feel the scenes and the spirit of her works. Behind the dazzling curtain, she is always thinking about an eternal topic: how to capture the essence of women, and how to immortalize their live flesh.
LUCIA said, “I’m not interested in dull photography, but there is certain complexity in women’s daily lives which I dedicate to explore."
Opening Hours: Tuesday to Sunday; Closed on Mondays.
