What is going to happen is not “the future”, but what we are going to do
The future is a space that only exists in a conceptual way and therefore everyone can create it. We need different languages to reveal the problems that the future brings us; but language, and its notions and arguments depend on perception. Art and artists are a great guarantee of freedom, public life and understanding of complex issues that affect our way of relating to gender, nature, technology and the possibility of achieving a different and richer political vocabulary than our own. I presented. How to talk about the future at ARCOmadrid? It could, brought to this context, be misinterpreted as a prospecting exercise in the future of the art market and not in the future of our actions and responsibilities with art and culture. But precisely we will take it as a challenge with sense since since its inception, and for many professionals, it has been a place of meeting and discussion. Through the presentation of a series of artists, a publication and a symposium we will talk about the future without futurology, as a tentative exercise to address what today feeds art and society.
