February 3 - 7, 2016
During the 12th edition of Zona Maco, Anonymous Gallery presents, "Bananas". An oddly conceived booth for an art fair, the presentation will include a site-specific intervention that serves as a setting for artworks and a participatory program of talks, meetings, and events.
Originally constructed as a tree house called Casa Club, in his home land of Puerto Rico, Radames "Juni" Figueroa celebrated friendship using the installation as an experimental platform for weekend activities – from barbecues to concerts – or more simply as a place to hang out in the forest. Similar structures for exhibitions at the 2014 Whitney Biennial, Sculpture Center, and Museo Malba have continued his exploration in using local materials to create interactions between the work and the viewer; in a space of congregation and entertainment.
Consisting primarily of untreated wood, the installation's platforms at the fair will play host to additional artworks from Figueroa, Alex Becerra, Andrew Birk, Chris Bradley, Henry Gunderson, Jeanette Hayes, Sadie Laska, Eric Munoz, among others.
Additionally the booth will encourage participation and celebration through musical performances and exchange. The group, Los Vigilantes will perform on Friday, February 5 at 3pm, generating a complete experience.
