ARARIO GALLERY SHANGHAI is delighted to announce our 2017 first exhibition "The River Never Remembers The House Cannot Forget" by Chinese Artist Chen Yujun.
Chen Yujun (born in 1976) - graduated from Department of mixed media of China Academy of Fine Arts -, whose artistic work holds unique value in the post - 2000 sphere of contemporary Chinese painting. On the one hand, he experienced the gradual trans-formative reality of society, the culture of politics post-2000; on the other hand, his work became the standard for contemporary painting and established him as a model of that transformation. Chen's works have been collected by Brooklyn Museum, White Rabbit Gallery, DSL Collection and other international museums.
Chen Yujun always attempts to interpret the self- consciousness of the individual in the ever-changing environments and cultures. In the exhibition of "The River Never Remembers The House Cannot Forget", Chen's work reevaluates the emotional bond to one's homeland in a modern context whereby the migrant's tribulation is shared across generations. It shows the artist continuous interest in the affinities between personal and social history as well as natural and man-made space take precedent in this ambitious presentation.
You can see different series of Chen's works are immersed under this exhibition and installed different floors and corners in order to create layers of emotions and imagination. "Space is virtual existence; it needs to be filled with your will."
