Removal of toxic substances from a living organism, this is the puritanic definition of detoxication or DETOX. Daniela Schönbächler developed under this subject a room installation that leads to reflect on the contradictionless abundance of consumption which appears in our western structures of society. The reflection is, that the „addiction“ of having more and more is dessolving gradually and rationalizes away the esteem for the modest and essencial. As a result, the whole ecosystem of the world and life is in danger. This questions provocated Daniela S. to realize a series of works that are shown for the first time in the exhibition DETOX.
The Arthobler gallery will be isolated spatially, encapsulated, respectively reduced to one room. With DETOX the view to the outside or inside is eliminated, by entering the gallery one has only the possibility to focus on the metaphoric chosen elements. They are sharpening the eyes and bring equally calmness. During the longer view the originally objective utilities start to dissolve. Realized with transparency respectively glass, the installation is showing only minimal traces and it seem as the past would loose its power. The objects lay bare of shadows without claiming any functionality. The room, marked by its subltle emptyness, reaches a concrete distinctive estetics that gives the feeling to experiance something sublime and pure.
