Founded in december 2012 by Minyoung Lee and Gil Bauwens, the gallery's goal is to reveal and promote artists who are mostly coming from the Korean art scene, but also to show European artists works in Korea, through exhibitions or art events.
Our concept is to show the public the work of three artists, Ode Bertrand, Paola Pezzi and Namgoong Whan, who, in different stylistic languages we will discover their own universes.
For ODE BERTRAND, we will show her work on paper and on canvas where abstraction is distinguished by its radicality, it uses only a grid to elaborate its compositions and claims a spiritual content for its creation. The complexity of Ode Bertrand's work, based on subtle relations and scholarly balances, to the benefit of rhythm, will be measured here, under the apparent simplicity, in order to express an order in which chaos remains.
With PAOLA PEZZI, we will discover the field of aggregation, with new works created with assemblages of objects taken from everyday life such as rubber, wood, felt. In these works, we feel a great energy, vitality, dynamism. The cancellation of any formal satisfaction which reveals the pure form, with a possibility of growth, capable of expanding in space and time in an infinity of variations. Where art becomes an experience of life, a dialogue about the world.
And to finish with the work of NAMGOONG WHAN, we enter the ENTOPTIC world, which is a phenomenon of light that lies between our consciousness and the retina of the eye, but which has nothing to do with any illusion. It’s a universe of consciousness, not a visible or palpable world. A bit like a difference between consciousness and unconsciousness.
