The American Society of Media Photographers presents 9 photographers based out of New York City. The booth is curated by three female photo gallery directors: Sherri Nienass Littlefield (Foley Gallery,) Frances Jakubek (Bruce Silverstein,) and Raechel McCarthy (Clamp Art.)
The New York Chapter of the American Society of Media Photographers is pleased to present new work by emerging artists during our inaugural participation in Aqua Art Miami.
The booth is a celebration of photography in its many forms. Included are documentary, commercial, experimental and fine art photographs from Aleya Lehmann Bench, Liam Alexander, Philippe Cheng, Kristofer Dan Bergman, Cindy Konits, Geoff Johnson, Susan Chen, (image featured) Suzanne Dyer and Eileen Lerner.
The exhibitors share an affinity for curiosity and artistic formalism. The colorful, painterly images by Aleya Lehmann Bench reference entertainment in the 1500’s, while the work by Cindy Kontis breathes new life to family “ghosts” from film stills originating from the 1940’s. Liam Alexander creates clean, minimal collages while Geoff Johnson provides us with a glimpse of a hoarder’s life through his documentary work.
The work was curated by three contemporary gallery directors specializing in photography; Sherri Littlefield (Foley Gallery) Frances Jakubek (Bruce Silverstein Gallery) and Raechel McCarthy (ClampArt.)
The core mission of ASMP is to advocate, educate, and provide community for image makers — fostering thriving careers, a strong sense of professional ethics, and an unshakable belief in the power of images.
