FRANK FLUEGEL GALLERY, with a strong focus on Contemporary Art and Pop Art will hold its opening reception in Nuremberg for the new show „XOOOOX – LOOKIE LOOKIE“ from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Friday, March 16th 2018. On view are mostly new unique works on wood and metal. The exhibition runs through April 28th 2018.
XOOOOX (*1979) is a German street artist who lives and works in Berlin. Similar to Banksy the true identity behind his pseudonym remains unknown.
His life-size stencil works show perfectly styled female models which he produces according to the models of fashion campaigns. For the background he uses materials with history like weather-beaten or putrid wood and fabric. Like this, he creates an aspect of evanescence and a contrast to the glamour of the world of fashion.
In many of his works he uses logos of fashion brands which he defamiliarizes. In some cases he pays homage, for example brands that have a long tradition. With others it is rather the criticism of over-industrialization of fashion and an invitation to the observer to scrutinize the topic.
FRANK FLUEGEL GALLERY with stores in Nuerberg and Kitzbuehel is focused on original artwork of Pop Art and Contemporary Art like Andy Warhol, Tom Wesselmann, Keith Haring, Mr. Brainwash, BAMBI, Roy Lichtenstein, Julian Opie, James Rosenquist, Alex Katz or Mel Ramos. We also have works by Pablo Picasso, Alec Monopoly, Gerhard Richter or Basquiat in stock. Changing solo shows at the gallery spaces in central Nuernberg and Kitzbuehel expose different positions of our gallery program. Participating at international art fairs like Kunst Zurich completes our gallery task.
