It is a great honor for this gallery to introduce, from September 29th to October 31st, the exhibition L7 DESPLAZAMIENTO 1, first solo exhibition at this space by artist Lisardo.
Alluding Lisardo´s work and his latest pieces, means referring to the purest form of geometric abstraction, of essentiality, of extreme purity and of the absence of artifice. Lisardo´s is not a simple painting, and that´s wherein its beauty and his mastery lay.
The viewer needs time to observe his paintings and uncover such imaginary landscapes hiding behind the prominent white, to untangle the mysteries enclosed in his painting and identify, amongst his practically obsessive austerity and rigour, the unstable and complex reality proposed by Lisardo within his work, as well as the visitor´s role within it. In essence and according to the actual artist´s words, Lisardo asks the visitor to look inside the painting “because it is there where things happen.”
The latter however is no easy exercise and this could be why, recapturing a quote by Tomas Paredes published in 2008 at the Vanguardia Newspaper,” Lisardo has got an explicit appreciation of collectionism, and a fortunate aura, as a cult artist for critics who praise his purity, his linear and constructive mysticism, far from all pretention”.
From Aurora Vigil-Escalera, we would like to invite you all to inhabit these imaginary constructions proposed by Lisardo and decipher his secrets, this Regme du silence, a highly appropriate title recaptured by Juan Manuel Bonet from Belgian poet and novelist Georges Rodenbach, in order to reflect on this Lisardo´s paintings. Now more than ever a noiseless Kingdom, never mute nevertheless.
