Deniz Pasha lives and works in Istanbul. She had a concurrent solo exhibition at Ballon Rouge and The Pill (Istanbul) last year titled “Blood Memory." The series is a trace of the reverberating effects of the Ottoman Empire’s policies towards African bodies. She does not start with the sordid history directly but rather in reverse, starting with now - with African migrants and immigrants currently living in Turkey.
