April 11, 2017 (Los Angeles, CA) - Barakat Gallery, one of the world’s leading galleries devoted to ancient art and the most prominent gallery of its kind on the West coast, will open a new location in the world famous La Cienega Design Quarter in West Hollywood on April 29, 2017. Barakat West Hollywood consists of a 7,000 square-foot museum-style exhibition space spread over two levels and 12 rooms, where it will present some of the finest art and antiquities from around the globe.
The new Barakat Gallery celebrates the diversity of humanity’s creative achievements through a dynamic, multi-dimensional gallery that provides an experience of the ancient world unlike any other. The new location includes galleries dedicated to Asian, African, Pre-Columbian, and Classical art; a Russian icons chapel room; as well as a breathtaking main hall with a mixed curation of treasures from around the world. At Barakat West Hollywood, one will find a vast array of works from continent to continent and era to era, such as Olmec jade masks, Chinese terracottas, Egyptian sarcophagus lids and busts of Pharaohs, pre-Columbian devotional objects, Classical sculptures of gods and goddesses, and more. The gallery also offers a library featuring a comprehensive selection of art, history, and anthropology-related texts for visitors to enjoy.
Fayez Barakat, President of the Gallery, has devoted his life to preserving ancient history for future generations. Having witnessed the destruction of precious ancient objects by villagers in his native Israel, his aim is to save ancient objets d’art from possible damage or future loss, finding them proper homes with collectors and placement in institutional collections.
