The artist Andrea Collesano takes inspiration from nature, wildlife and sea animals.
His interest is captured especially by the animal kingdom. His subjects range from small miniatures depicting insects to large works, where the main characters are whales, mysterious creatures of the abyss and plant life, like palm trees.
He draws with with black ink on paper, which he prepares by himself, giving to the material a taste of ancient times and a feeling of melancholic serenity.
His source of inspiration are ancient art and old symbolic and naturalistic engravings, through which he gives life to the imaginary world dwelling in his mind. In his works, the dreamlike element blends with a scientific and obsessive accuracy to detail.
In occasion of Scope Miami Beach 2016, Andrea Collesano has conceived a special project dedicated to the host city: landscapes populated by palm trees, monkeys, see horses, jellyfish and other sea animals.
He creates surreal and and dreamlike artworks that he charges with allegorical meaning through the repetition of symbols like keys, undefined horizons, abandoned lighthouses.
There is no evidence of human presence, just animals. Suspended. Without time. Like dreams.
