We’ll exhibit work of two artists with photographs from and in Polaroid, Ellen Carey and Judy Coleman.
Carey will show, for the first time, her project “Stopping Down” from 2001. A starkly formal Polaroid self-portrait is made in a series of decreasing exposures. These are printed in positive and negative, as well as in the additive and subtractive primary colors. Aside from the visual elegance of these framed series and diptychs of positive and negative Polaroids, the work has many implications for the artist, as she deals with aging, her work as a female artist, and philosophical as well as photographic implications that will reward the thoughtful and observant viewer. We will provide further information about the artists and their work in a following email.
The Preview will begin at 1:00 on June 4th. There will be a reception at 4:00, with the artists present. We are located 1 block from the Yonkers Metro North Station, ½ hour from Grand Central Station.
