In „no no noh“ Ikemura contrasts her own works with European art and examines questions of equality of different cultures within the arts. In doing so, her work scrutinizes Eurocentric tendencies in the modern tradition of art.
Beck & Eggeling International Fine Art is pleased to announce the exhibition „no no noh“ by Leiko Ikemura, opening in Vienna on May 18, 2017. In the exhibition the Japanese artist, who resides in Europe for many years now, her own works with a selection of drawings by Walter Pichler, taken from the collection of Diethard Leopold. A Japanese Noh mask, which beco- mes the centre piece of the show, functions as a link between the two artistic worlds for Ikemura.
