Beta is characterized by a continuous approach to a conception of ideas in site specific format. Thus the observer enters the idea of the artist experiencing the concept in its purest and most direct form. Our goal is to prioritize and amplify the artistic and experiential thinking of the work, developing immersion in it and making the viewer co part of the idea, in order to achieve a more intimate bond between the viewer and the creator.
In this 2016 we have dabbled in various fields that give more meaning to the name Beta as a prototype space. We have created Zeta Project, an annex generated with the intention of developing cultural projects within the artistic core that is brewing in San Felipe and aims the inclusion of urban artists within this recent Bogota Art District. We have also made our first Exhibition of curators: "Natural Numbers", In which guest curators from inner regions of the country occupy different spaces of Beta; this exhibition was coordinated by Santiago Rueda
In ARTBO 2016, Beta wants to involve the various visitors in the experience of contemporary Colombian art.
We present to the public Colombian artists with an observational unified concept: Nature. The proposal of each of the artists is identified with the abstraction of it, using objects and installations that are torn between the pictorial and the objetual. Using methods that cross disciplinary boundaries of art, science and philosophy.
Thus we find contrasts between the natural and the artificial. nature and science face each other, as in the case of Diego Mendoza, who manages it by using agglomerate graphite with natural elements such as plant leaves. Alba Triana reflects in her work the self-renewal properties of nature, framed in understanding the musical creation of art; using simple and analog technology achieves results, such as the division of a color by vibrations of a string. Guillermo Marconi, meanwhile, addresses the natural through the technological, creating scenarios where both elements analyze their sense of belonging. Finally is the work of Larry Muñoz, who gives the viewer the opportunity to make visible this nature, through objects, phenomena and concepts that define it, but are considered outsiders.
This is the way Beta aims to present a sample of its space and its ideas to the viewers in ARTBO 2016.
