Rob Zinn has been designing extraordinary objects since the nineties. His talents were recognized early in his arts education and his career at Pratt Institute was distinguished by being named the recipient of multiple accolades including the National Talent Search, Circle Award for Academic Achievement, Presidential Scholar, and Rowena Reed Kostellow Annual Student Designer awards. After graduation he returned to Pratt Institute as a Visiting Instructor and his work was exhibited at the distinguished Parrish Art Museum in Southampton, New York. It was at this time that he started employing reflected color in his work, a phenomenon that he continues to explore. Rob was awarded the 2016 ICFF Editors’ Award for his Concentric sconce for Barcelona-based lighting company Marset, for which he also received the Best of Year Award, Lighting Sconce from Interior Design Magazine.
Rob founded blankblank in 2004 as an avenue for sharing exceptional and difficult to manufacture designs. As Creative Director he has worked in guiding the creation and fabrication of limited edition objects and furniture by award-winning designers Mike & Maaike, Mark Goetz and Tim Richartz.
This Artsy online exclusive show features Rob’s own work creating artistic lighting, design objects and functional art furniture, all of which is made sustainably and in heirloom quality in California.
