“The Beauty of Color” is a show which serves to fully and completely please the aesthetic senses. Patricia Kaufman, with grand magnificence and thickness of stroke captures the abstract landscape using a bright, vivid palette. Emma Ashby also uses a broad range of color but chooses to speak, deftly, through the encaustic medium layering her work into the 3D with tufts of fabric. Both artists capture the grand feminine while bringing us to a place of peaceful meditation.
Patricia Kaufman is an autobiographical painter, a mature artist who creates for the sole purpose of self- expression and exploration. “It’s about my experience, very personal,” she says. Patricia showcases an intimacy through her creations which are the things of archetypes and symbols, of Lilith and Diana. She hopes that in giving honestly of her emotions through the brush, the personal becomes universal as viewers are perhaps moved when recognizing something of their own experiences mirrored directly from the canvas.
Emma Ashby is deeply inspired by Georgia O’Keefe, Chagall and Mother Nature herself! Whether applying encaustic to linen or by incorporating printed fabrics into the depth of layers she creates, the marriage is a synthesis of something quite unique and beautiful. Ashby encapsulates the very fabric of nature; her colors, textures, the form and patterns of life, the ebb and flow, beauty, rhythm are all about the true essence of life’s fragility.
Come prepared to explore the feminine which resides us in us all, no matter how we’re packaged on the outside. We welcome you to an evening of lush emotion and a true celebration of delicious richness put forth by two outstanding artists.
