The artwork presented in Intersection – Dissection – Connection demonstrates examples from an interrelated series developed from 2012 to the present. During this period of intensive artistic exploration, Michael Walsh experimented with multiple mediums and processes and encouraged their coalescence into a dynamic visual language transcending his roots and influences. This process of inquiry conjoined with the Intersection between industrial and digital technologies, produced highly resolved works of art and created a visual conversation with each work informing the next. The Dissection of compositional elements traverses from medium to medium creating Connection and cohesion. The goal to create the “art of one’s time” met with the resoluteness of history and the humility of understanding one’s place with-in that timeline presents a mature and auspicious body of work.
Born in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, Walsh has now begun to absorb and incorporate his last 20 years of art practice and is pushing his own limits of size, material, and concept; utilizing his abilities of metal casting, metal fabrication, molding, painting, and 3-D printing. He is currently broadening his potential through collaboration in creative partnerships and building diverse project teams focused on the creation of large-scale interactive sculptural design such as, ‘Cosmic Carousel, Burning Man 2012′. As from the beginning of his journey, Walsh aspires to push the boundaries of his imagination and devise ways of communicating his visions with the public. Intersection – Dissection – Connection will be on exhibit from March 15th through April 22nd. Join us on Saturday, March 26th from 5-8pm for the reception with the artist. It is free and open to the public.
