Joshua Hogan's series of paintings, That was the River, This is the Sea, were created from 2015 to 2016. Like the 1985 acclaimed Waterboys album, This is the Sea, Hogan’s painting process has become second nature. The forms he creates, suspended in a mythical landscape, speak to him. They tell him what to do and where to go, not only in the resulting painting but also in life. Hogan's paintings are poetic.
