Tuesday November 22nd 2011 Cardi Black Box gallery presents Manatthan Club Flavio Favelli's (Firenze, 1967) first solo show in Milan curated by Art At Work.
The exhibition will be articulated on both floors of the gallery, offering a unique occasion to discover and understand Flavio Favelli's artistic production, which develops through the constant transformation, rielaboration and combination of objects which he obsessively collects in the flee and antique markets in order to create an interior and individual journey. The work offers through images and signs taken from the artist's personal history the emotional reconstruction of Italy's recent past, with a specific focus on the 60's and 70's.
Manatthan Club is a snapshot on the peculiar history of italian consumer culture narrated through the appropiation of neon signs, furniture, carpets, stamps and sticker collages. Favelli employs these found-objects as a metaphor of the social-cultural transformation of a nation, Italy, which in the post war years was losing its rural and provincial way of life and embrasing consumer culture.
