Casterline | Goodman Gallery
Art Miami 2016

Specializing in post-war and contemporary art, the Casterline|Goodman Gallery, located in Aspen, CO, shows first-tier original artworks from the 20th and 21st centuries, including original paintings, sculptures and drawings by established artists such as Jean-Michel Basquiat, Ed Ruscha, and Andy Warhol.

This winter, from November 29th- December 4th, Casterline|Goodman Gallery will exhibit at Art Miami, booth B109. The gallery will feature a selection from our most prominent artists, including John McCracken, Richard Serra, Yayoi Kusama and many more.

John McCracken is an American artist known for his minimalistic pigmented-resin sculptures. McCracken studied at the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland. While in graduate school, he worked with three-dimensional canvases and used industrial materials as plywood, sprayed lacquer and pigmented resin to make the surface highly reflective. This technique was popular on the surfaces of surfboards, which was a large part of the local southern California culture.
Richard Serra is an American minimalist sculptor known for his sheet metal installations. He earned his B.A. from University of California, Santa Barbara in 1961 and his M.F.A. from Yale University School of Art and Architecture in 1964. Serra was inspired by the teachers and artists that he met at Yale, most notably Philip Guston and Chuck Close. He was also influenced by his work in steel mills as a teenager and his father’s job as a pipe-fitter.
Yayoi Kusama is a Japanese artist known for her use of bright colors and polka dots. Kusama studied Nihonga, which is the traditional Japanese style of painting, in Kyoto. Upon completion of her studies, she quickly became disinterested in Nihonga and turned her attention to avant-garde American and European styles.
