Bertrand's trademark style fuses the language of illustration, advertising and photorealistic painting. It’s instantly recognisable, and it has brought him legions of loyal fans from all over the world.
Alain Bertrand Solo Exhibition Catto Gallery, Hampstead 22 March – 9 April 2018 Catto Gallery welcomes back one of its most collected artists Alain Bertrand for a solo exhibition opening on 22nd March 2018. For over twenty years, Bertrand has been taking us on a trip through the bygone fifties and sixties observed through his personal vision of the American culture. We’re seated beside him in that Cuban Chevy, that New York taxi, that Greyhound bus. Like him, we’re strolling through Times Square or cruising somewhere out in Arizona. It’s hard to understand Bertrand’s vision and passion without considering his early days spent near an American air base in France waving to passing GIs in their Jeeps, listening to their rock records and smoking their king-size cigarettes. He subsequently worked for Renault for 11 years and in the US on advertising campaigns for cars and movies. For further information or hi-res images of the artworks, please call Imogen Green, Catto Gallery, 100 Heath Street, London NW3 1DP. www.cattogallery.co.uk t: 020 7435 6660 e: email@example.com
