Noa Yafe: The Perfect Crime

The Perfect Crime

The CCA presents Noa Yafe’s The Perfect Crime, an installation disguised as a
photography exhibition. The black and white "images" comprising it are created using
three-dimensional objects arranged to appear like photographs. Inspired by film noire,
the works give form to the notion of invisible crime, which surrounds us, but is rarely

acknowledged.
Fixed within the architecture of the gallery, Yafe’s works are optical illusions meant to
confuse medium distinctions between photography, sculpture, installation, and
architecture – ultimately exposing how photography as representation both documents
“reality” and presents a constructed, false version of it.

About Noa Yafe
Noa Yafe (b. 1978) is a Tel Aviv based artist who studied photography at the School of
Visual Arts in New York and earned a BFA from Hamidrasha at Beit Berl College, where
she also completed her post graduate studies in 2012. Solo exhibitions of her work have
been held at MoBY (Museums of Bat Yam), Raw Art Gallery, and D&A Gallery for
Contemporary Photography in Tel Aviv. Yafe has exhibited in various group exhibitions
in venues such as the Artists Studios in Jerusalem, Primary Projects in Miami, and the
Paint Box Gallery in New York. She has participated in Paris’ Cité des Arts residency
program. Yafe was awarded the Igal Zak Honorary Grant from Hamidrasha at Beit Berl
College, Honorable Mention at the 2009 International Photography Awards, and the
Keren Sharet Young Artist Scholarship by the America Israel Cultural Foundation.
