Stewart MacFarlane: A Selection from Private Collections

Stewart MacFarlane exhibited with Charles Nodrum Gallery from 1994 to 2008. During that time numerous works were traded in or exchanged, many of which constitute this exhibition. Also included are paintings on consignment for resale, resulting in a brief survey of works by the artist from the 1980s to the early 2000s. Charles continues his interest in MacFarlane’s practice; his characteristic high key pallette and dramatic compositions continue to create a strong sense of tension that leaves the viewer inexplicably uneasy – qualities that drew Charles to Stewart’s paintings over 20 years ago.
