For the occasion of Art on Paper 2018, Back Gallery Project (Vancouver, B.C.) and Chimento Contemporary (Los Angeles,CA) have come together to focus on collaboration and mutual reciprocity in the art market. Both galleries operating nearly 12000 miles apart, seek to expose their artists to a broader audience through special projects that take into account a more global idea of the commercial art world.
Beginning this past winter, the two galleries co-presented an exhibition of artist Talia Shipman's work titled Meet Me in the Middle. By brining their artists together and presenting them outside each gallery's respective physical location, Director's Monica Reyes and Eva Chimento hope to foster new dialogs that cross borders and move the local conversation to a wider audience.
