Christophe Guye Galerie is pleased to present a solo exhibition of acclaimed British photographer and artist Miles Aldridge with some new and never shown before works.
Miles Aldridge is a fashion photographer with an eye for the tragedy behind the glamour. The women in his pictures are extravagantly beautiful and impeccably dressed but often reside within scenes of domestic bliss minus the bliss. His work is like a series of vivid single-frame movie melodramas: mothers and wives in the kitchen, in the nursery, in the bedroom, on the town, staring vacantly into the distance, lost in their thoughts and disappointments. The immaculate appearance and blank expression of these glamorous, beautiful women leave room for interpretation and, like a mirror for Aldridge’s works at large, hint with a touch of dark humour at the perfected façade of fashion’s glamour and the need for idealised beauty. His works are characterized by vivid, fluorescent colours as well as the Hollywood lighting and perfectionist attention to detail, staging surrealistic stories in technicolour dream-like worlds.
