BOARDING GALLERIES will launch during that eventful weekend that sees a good number of collectors making their way to the city to enjoy its high-quality and spirited art scene. Antwerp remains one of the primary art-cities with its rich historical past, connections with Rheinland and The Netherlands and a vibrant fashion, art & culinary scene. Antwerp is the place to grow and to undertake in art and a destination of choice for Belgian and foreign collectors.
Sharing knowledge and networks is key for co-founders Sofie Van de Velde Gallery & Plus-One Gallery who have put forward collaborations between galleries since some time. Starting with sharing booths at fairs, they opened last year a second venue to their main galleries space, sharing a reception. During last year’s Art Weekend they invited two Belgian Galleries. This philosophy is their way to formulate a mutual response to the numerous challenges galleries face in today’s art scene.
The Nieuw Zuid, developed by Triple Living is a new and sustainable neighbourhood situated next to the Zuid area. The location which has a strong history is now seeing its museums KMSKA, MuHKA and FoMu being transformed into major institutions and most Antwerp key galleries are in this area.
This year’s edition will be curated and managed by Liv Vaisberg _Office for Art & Design.
