Giacomo ‘Jack’ Braglia is a dynamic young photographer who opens fresh perspectives into the daily lives of the people of Ethiopia. His work captures the true essence of these communities and how they interact with their environments, creating powerful emotional reactions by transmitting the vibrant energies of rural African life.
Jack has been fascinated with photography from a young age, and has been documenting the world around him ever since. His attraction and intrigue with the medium has propelled him to continually seek new and stimulating subject matter surrounding people, in order to convey his thoughts and expressions.
The way in which Jack uses the camera lens provides the viewer with the opportunity to discern new visual content and digest these strong narratives, revealed in the minute details and aesthetic properties found in each composition.
‘A Conversation with Ethiopia’ displays his keen observational skills and honest approach to conversing with the people of Ethiopia, and sharing this dialogue on a global scale. Through this presentation he opens a conversation between the viewers and the people of Ethiopia, showing them as they really are, not as they are often misperceived by hackneyed views towards Africa.
Braglia’s previous exhibitions in 2015 - 2016 were dedicated to raising funds for the charity New Flower in Africa Foundation. Jack has travelled to Ethiopia ever since he was 15 years old, working with local children over his summer breaks. His mission and dream is to raise awareness through his photographs to help enable people to respect and understand cultures on a deeper and less superficial level.
Jack identifies with the work of photographers such as Enzo Barracco and Giorgia Panzera. His grandfather has also had a significant influence on his photographic practice, yet Jack’s eye remains his own and has the rare ability to create a personal connection of his love and curiosity of others.
