Expression is one of the truest forms of individuality and identity. It gives definition to the distinctiveness of a person, enabling broader understanding and igniting growth essential to the human condition. However; It is often that expression of the true self is met with resistance. Being silenced or quieted creates a disruptive division within the self. One that must be overcome in order to achieve reclamation of what feels lost or held hostage. Breaking free from repression is a task not without adversity. The constant battle to vanquish what stands in the way of expression pushes and pulls the self into realms of uncertainty and doubt. This body of work creates a visual autopsy of the emotional and unyielding process of emancipation from those clutches.
Freedom to speak is the freedom to be heard.
