Kristof Kintera (1973) is probably the most challenging and most respected artist working today in Czech Republic. His artworks mainly explore the boundaries of contemporary sculpture and unfold from public installations to small kinetic devices.
Kintera mainly deals with the reification of material and the transformation of everyday objects that both convey anthropomorphically referenced attitudes. He shapes the hidden spirituality within things and reinvents its mythologies imagining absurd possibilities of life and unrealistic uses. Accidental encounters between two objects tend to create polysemous interpretations of the surrounding world. The artist also accentuates the conflict relationship between objects and their common context. Furthermore Kintera embraces existentialist issues questioning the place of humans in their natural and/or artificially created environment. His critical investigations signify current complexities in a globalized context including social tensions, urbanism, consumerism, anarchy, etc. His creations permanently generate a struggle between the personal and the global along with polarities such as attractiveness and rejection. Kintera's interventions are voluntarily provocative, subversive, melancholic, schizophrenic and refer to the ready-made and various styles such as mannerism, surrealism, caricature, etc.
The works My Light is your Life II (Shiva Samuraï) (2014), My Light is Your Light (2008) will be presented along with drawings of the artist.
Since more than five years D+T Project Gallery based in Brussels works with young and mid-career artists that have gained worldwide recognition through their participation to projects such as the Venice Biennale (Mona Vatamanu & Florin Tudor), Documenta in Kassel (Jens Haaning) and Manifesta (Nicoline van Harskamp, Elena Bajo), etc.
The artists represented by the gallery have a practice that ranges through a variety of media including painting, photography, sculpture, movie, performance, etc. The gallery has developed a strong commitment to international artists who within their overall practice deal with topics linked with nowadays issues such as: politics, identities, borders, the place of mankind in the current environment, etc.
Another part of the program means to explore the limits of painting as media, the limits of the pictorial field and features artworks that have political substance along with conceptual reflexion on the media.
Its roster is developing since the upcoming two exhibitions will feature Sebastien Bonin and Sarah&Charles, artists that the gallery will collaborate with for the first time.
Without being conceptual per se, D+T Project Gallery organizes solo and group shows that usually tend to tell a story exemplified by a careful selection of artworks. Since its inception participates to prestigious international art fairs such as Art Brussels, Arco (Madrid), Artissima (Turin), Frieze (London), ZonaMaco (Mexico, DF), etc.
