Since its creation, De Re Gallery has quickly become one of the West Hollywood’s most exciting and bold exhibition spaces.
Hard to believe the gallery has been open just one short year, and to mark this, De Re will deliver another groundbreaking exhibition. The show will simultaneously pay homage to some of art history’s greats alongside an international roster of most exciting leading voices of the contemporary art scene. Taking the celebrated images of the Blue Nude by Henri Matisse and Tom Wesselmann as it’s inspiration, the exhibition will bring the prolific legacy of this image on a journey to the present day through the eyes of the 21st century artists,
and will present the changing vision of the nude, in blue, as it was held in the past to its manifestation in the present moment. “By creating a living dialogue between the masters of the present and the past,
we seek great artists, whose body of work not only captures the eye, but theimagination.” De Re owner, Steph Sebbag’s mission has always been to support artists that create not only bold and innovative work but also provoke and question.
Thirteen visionaries chosen by De Re will present their own unique version of the Blue Nude. Artists featured: photographer Brian Bowen Smith, mentored by Herb Ritts; Billy Childish painting protégée, Gretchen Andrew; and the inspirational innovative works of NYC and Hamptons-based Stephanie Hirsch. Also featured will be Michael Sagato, Cyrus Mahboubian, Stefanie Schneider, Jessica Lichtenstein, Alison Bignon, Tania Dibbs, Robert Mack, Florence de Ponthaud, Margherita Marzotto and Yossi Govrin.
The Gallery’s pioneering program has attracted many local and international art
collectors and celebrity clients. With the build up to this event, the opening night
is set to raise the bar even higher.
