Dep Art Gallery is inaugurating an important retrospective show with works ranging from the seventies to today: starting from the first monochromes, investigating the “anxious condition” of painting, until the work of art was “broken” itself, and disseminations followed. As A. Zanchetta writes: «During the second half of the twentieth century, painters rejected painting frames – felt as an obligation and a frill – and involved themselves in probing the walls of art museums and art galleries, thus allowing works to enter in direct relation with the exhibition space, a “place of happenings” becoming the new spatial limit of painting. During the seventies artists as Pino Pinelli also got knowledge of the boundary imposed by the structure of the work itself; they therefore answered with an explosion and a trespassing of it, giving a body to painting and making it a material (more than materical). Pinelli, for example, feels the necessity of resettle the nature of painting itself and its premises, foreseeing its future developments and all possible applications. Today his painting is still “thought” in relation to the exhibition space and “projected” to live in synergy and symbiosis with architecture».
