This will be the sixth solo show of ENRIQUE MARTY (°1969) at Deweer Gallery. The exhibition ‘Sense of failure’ will focus on universal feelings, such as failure, longing and frustration. An animation film will be projected in which one of Marty’s nephews undertakes several unsuccessful efforts to move to Toronto. This film consists of thousands of paintings, which will be displayed on two walls. For this show, Marty also created a dozen remarkable sculptures: 25 surprising failed paintings (using crumpled canvas as a base to paint on), 100 small and 4 large paintings. Each work explores the human soul as a comédie humaine with dark passages. For the outdoor sculptures exhibition, Marty created a touching bronze portrait sculpture of Mark Rothko.
