For London Art Week 2017, Dickinson Gallery will be collaborating with Guinevere Antiques to present a summer exhibition of paintings, works on paper, and period furniture in our ground floor galleries. Visitors will enter via a study, which will feature groups of lively 19th-century drawings by Royal Academy President Sir Francis Grant; a riotous Battle of the Amazons by Jan Brueghel the Elder and Rubens’s studio; and other portraits and cabinet-scale oil paintings. They will then proceed through to a bright and sunny garden atrium, hung with plein-air landscapes and travel-themed paintings, including works by Guardi, Bidauld, Zuccarelli and Vinchon. In the main gallery, decorated to resemble a grand reception hall or salon, will be large scale portraits and other figural works, including an elegant 'Susanna and the Elders' by Pier Leone Ghezzi and an early Van Dyck group portrait of 'The Family of Cornelis de Vos'. One end of the salon will be designed as an artist’s studio, featuring works on paper and 19th century plaster casts alongside a portrait of the sculptor Antonio Canova in his Studio by Domenico Conti. To accompany the exhibition, we will produce a digital brochure with photographs of the installations and additional information about the works offered for sale, Dickinson Gallery, and Guinevere Antiques.
