Daniel Göttin [*1959, Basel, CH] is well known for his space related installations in museums and galleries as well as in public space. Moreover, his personal approach includes painting and three-dimensional works.
Ever since he graduated from art school in Basel in 1989, he has been exhibiting world-wide, from Australia, Japan and the US to the whole of Europe. As a consequence, he has been granted numerous international scholarships and residencies, including the Artists Foundation of Western Australia, Perth [AU], The Chinati Foundation, Marfa/TX [US], and Youkobo Art Space, Tokyo [JP]. Moreover, important institutions have been exhibiting works of Daniel Göttin, for example the Haus für konstruktive und konkrete Kunst, Zürich and Kunsthaus Baselland, Muttenz [both CH], Museum Haus Kasuya, Yokosuka [JP], House of Art, České Budějovice [CZ], CCNOA, Brussels [BE] and Field Institute/Raketenstation at Stiftung Insel Hombroich [DE].
Having contributed to FutureShock OneTwo with Raumzonen, an installation reflecting the dr. julius | ap gallery spaces geometry, he will again execute a site specific wall installation and additionally display a selection of his latest artworks in the upcoming exhibition.
José Heerkens [* 1950 in Dinther, NL], intensely focuses on colours, their qualities and their interactions in her paintings. She uses an elaborate system of horizontal and vertical lines to set a basic structure on her linen canvasses, that she develops subtle and individual colour relations from. Together with the physicality of the paint and the fabric she works with, she creates unique works of complex simplicity and minimalist clarity.
José Heerkens graduated from Koninklijke Academie voor Kunst en Vormgeving [Academy of Art and Design], 's-Hertogenbosch [NL] in 1984 and has been exhibiting in museums, institutions and galleries in The Netherlands, Belgium, Bulgaria, Germany, France, Hungary and the US ever since, including Mondriaanhuis, Amersfoort, Museum Waterland, Purmerend, Museum van Bommel van Dam, Museum Belvédère Heerenveen, Gorcums Museum, Gorinchem [all NL], Vasarely Museum, Budapest [HU], Galerie Gimpel & Müller, Paris [FR], Gesellschaft für Kunst und Gestaltung, Bonn and Verein für aktuelle Kunst Ruhrgebiet, Oberhausen [both DE]. In 2011 she was Artist in Residence at The Josef and Anni Albers Foundation in Bethany, Connecticut [US] and will be participating in the International Painting Symposium Mark Rothko 2016 at the Mark Rothko Art Center Daugavpils, Latvia [LV] later this year.
Parallel to exhibiting with Daniel Göttin at dr. julius | ap she will be showing Noontide, a solo exhibition at Mies van der Rohe Haus Berlin, from June 5 through September 11, 2016.
