Press Release

Dubner Moderne is pleased to announce a solo exhibition of new works by the Swiss artist Viviane Rombaldi Seppey. The exhibition, "Horizon", will open on Thursday November 22nd in the presence of the artist from 18h with the participation of Finstoy Wealth Managment. It will be on view until December 21st.

For Viviane Rombaldi Seppey, representations of place are at the essence of her artistic narrative. Drawn to objects that are illustrative of specific locations, she has long been fascinated by materials such as phone books and maps for their ubiquitous nature and their visual cues to identity and culture. For her exhibition, "Horizon", which will be her 4th with the gallery, her work is concentrated on the detailed imagery of maps.

Divided into two distinct series, the exhibition includes works that are sculptural and collage based. In both we feel Rombaldi Seppey’s, precise, meticulous attention to her material, whether it be the stitched and sculpted pages of folded maps, or her careful intertwining of anatomical diagrams that merge veins into roadways on cartographic landscapes. Throughout, the exhibition balances an intimacy of scale that entices us to travel into the referenced locations, with, a broader consideration of belonging, self and that which is beyond our respective horizons.

Born in Sion, Switzerland in 1960 Viviane Rombaldi Seppey's works have been included in museum shows including the Bronx Museum, the Château de Mezières in Fribourg (CH), the Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami and at the Musée de Charmey in the International Triennial of Paper. Her works are in the permanent collections of the Charmey Museum, the Banff Center for the Arts, Fidelity Investments in Boston and Coventry Capital in Hong Kong.
