GAIL MORRISON, OPA
Passionate about painting, Gail Morrison’s oil landscape and still life paintings exude a vibrancy and color characteristic of the artist’s life and personality. Gail Morrison began painting in Italy. For fifteen years she returned to paint en plein air in Tuscany, often leading small groups of other painters. Since switching careers in 1992, Morrison has been the recipient of numerous awards and solo shows, the first of which followed just two years after she began painting. More recently, Gail has been focusing on painting still lifes, twelve of which have been juried by Oil Painters of America into their shows.
A full time artist since 2006, Jeff Morrow primarily focuses on portraiture, sporting art and urban scenes. Morrow gained an aesthetic education during his 28-year career as a commercial photographer and video producer. He describes his style as painterly realism. Though rooted in the classic tradition, his style is contemporary in spirit. Although the goal of a successful portrait is to create a good likeness and capture the essence of the subject, Morrow works to create paintings that are pleasing on their own merit. He strives to create paintings that convey a sense of the moment and that bring out the beauty in everyday scenes. He hopes his work will stand the test of time and be treasured by future generations. Jeff Morrow resides in the Cincinnati area and is a member of The Portrait Society of America, Oil Painters of America, The American Academy of Equine Art and is a Signature Member of the Cincinnati Art Club.
Raised in the small town of Mason, Ohio, Cindy was surrounded by farm land and spent her childhood exploring the streams and woods nearby, developing a passionate love of nature. Her specialty is Plein air painting. She feels that painting on location captures the effects of the natural light on the scene, light and color that may be lost if an artist is painting from a photograph. Cindy has won many awards for her paintings in international, national and local competitions, including the Award of Excellence for the Oil Painters of America Midwest Regional Show, and Honorable Mention in the International Artist Magazine Art Competition.
