March 6th - April 7th, 2018
The exhibition titled “Five Letters” organized by EKAV / Education, Culture and Research Foundation for the 8th of March International Women’s Day meets with spectators at Ekavart Gallery between March 6th and April 7th.
Throughout history, many adjectives have been added to women. The woman was the cause of all the troubles and disasters that happened to you. The woman was chastity. The woman is kind, polite, merciful. Or strong. The woman was like a flower; need to be protected, cared, overwhelmed. Some applauded the woman for being ‘like a man’. Sometimes it was ‘femme fatal’. Or a goddess...
However, the ‘woman’, is not devoid of all these adjectives? Or oppositely, is not a “five-letter” word that contains all these adjectives? Cannot you look at it without trying to fit in an identity? Can a woman tell the story of a thousand women? This exhibition, entitled "Five Letters," questions all identities attributed to women through works; narrates the story with the voice of art.
