Bianco: Art Celebrating White

Emerge Gallery is pleased to present Bianco: An Exhibition of Art Celebrating White from January 4-26, 2020. An opening reception is scheduled for Saturday, January 4 from 5-8 PM and a closing reception on Sunday, January 26 from 3-5 PM. White is composed of an equal combination of all of the colors in the spectrum and it is typically associated with innocence and purity, a new beginning, goodness, spirituality, softness and protection. The color has been used culturally over the years to usher in a new marriage or, in some cultures, to say goodbye to a loved one. White promotes clarity and peace—exactly what is needed to usher in the new year.

Over fifty pieces of art representing forty-nine artists from the Hudson Valley and New York Metropolitan area are included in this exhibition. The works vary in style and mediums that include collage; drawings; encaustic; fiber; acrylic, oil and watercolor paintings; photography; porcelain; and sculpture. The common thread that connects each work is the pure white of the work or that it contains a white element where the viewers’ eye is immediately drawn.

Bianco is curated by Emerge Gallery director Robert Langdon.

The gallery window will feature work by NJ artist Robert Greco whose process is guided by movement, mood and music. “My work is very textural, involving many layers, colors and materials,” he explains. “But in the end, I always deconstruct back to the basics.” The featured work is inspired by and created for the Bianco exhibition. Greco is represented exclusively by Emerge Gallery on artsy.net, where you can find a wide selection of his work available for purchase.

Emerge Gallery focuses on emerging artists from the Hudson Valley, NY, region and beyond by hosting monthly group art exhibitions, and other events. It is a very open and welcoming environment that is a wonderful setting for private parties and gatherings and is available for rental. The space is also available to rent for solo and privately curated exhibitions.
